AVON GARDEN CLUB was honored to design and is installing a NEW GARDEN

in the Miller Nature Preserve, Lorain Metro Parks complex on St. Rt. 83.

The garden will be at the main entrance between the parking area and the front of the building, a very prominent area. The design includes trees, shrubs, perennial plants and annual flower beds. The garden will be accessed by a brick walk. This is your opportunity to become a part of this unique place by purchasing a commemorative brick!

[EDIT] The walkway is complete, and no further orders will be accepted. See the gallery for photos of the finished project.

Thanks to everyone involved for your participation!

PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release June 16, 2011

“Plant a Row in Avon”

AVON, OHIO – The Avon Garden Club is proud to sponsor our local campaign for planting a row of vegetables for those at risk for hunger. We are working with Second Harvest Food Bank of Lorain to provide garden fresh produce to those in need.

We ask that you plant a row especially for this purpose and that you bring your excess harvest to our drop off area at the Avon Senior Center, 36786 Detroit Rd on Mondays by 6pm of each week through September for our Monday evening pick up. We will deliver the produce to a food pantry operated by Second Harvest.

In 2009, with the help of farmers, farmers markets and individual growers, Second Harvest distributed over 1.3 million lbs of fresh produce to the people they serve in four surrounding counties. A donation of fresh produce provides a healthy and nutritious option to people who can not afford to buy it.

We thank you for your support in our efforts to help feed the hungry.
